No Genre Cloud

Version: Subsonic . . . Built with MusicCabinet plugin, version 0.7.11, on October 8, 2012.
Server: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.7.0_05, Windows 7 (78.3 MB / 145.0 MB)

I followed the installation and I believe I set it up properly. I scanned my library last night and even set-up the Last.fm scrobbling . . .

I do not see a Genre Cloud.

However, when I first went to the Radio panel I used to see all of the genres listed with the instructions to select which genres I want to use with the Radio feature. Thinking this was a "sort-by-genre" playlist function I selected one genre (Jazz Fusion) to sort by and listen to and now I (and anyone else who logs-in) only has that one choice to use with the Radio feature.

Also, Jazz Fusion is also the only genre listed (seems to work properly as a hotlink) in the Genre panel.

Please advise.

Thanks!

Have you checked at Settings -> MusicCabinet, bottom of the page? There's a link there to configure which tags to use in the genre cloud and in the radio.

Your suggestion was implied in other posts that I saw after a search on the topic here.

When I first went to Settings>Music Cabinet all I saw was Music Cabinet Configuration and a button to initiate a scan. - A scan just like when I first set-up MusicCab. So I clicked it. As I write this, I'm waiting for that scan to finish.

Did I need to complete this particular and essentially a secondary, scan before I see the Genre Cloud?

Will the other genres re-appear in the Radio panel subsequntly?

This sounds a bit strange. Please report back when the scan has finished (so that the MusicCabinet setting turns back into configuration mode, you can't change scanner settings while it's scanning).

Yes . . . the scan did it. . . .

Genre cloud is here . . . when I click a genre - often a genre I didn't know I had - I see a lot of results. Some I recognize, some I don't.

Is Last.fm adding results to these lists? . . .

. . . When I select to hear some music that I don't think is in my collection, could the song be streaming from Last.fm instead of from my collection without any indication?

Or am I mistaken, is the track (or album) in my collection and I don't remember it?

That sounds good. There's no streaming from last.fm, all songs are taken from your library (only from folders that you've scanned). Could be tracks from a compilation album, maybe?

I believe that's a good thing about this mod - it helps you find music you didn't even know you had. The larger your library is, the more useful it is.

Thanks for the clarification!

This is why I like this mod too . . . This library is actually a back up of a (not so computer literate) friends collection of more than 28K tracks. He used to own a DJ business.

I started with Media Monkey to get things organized and tagged. Then I wanted a way to access the collection remotely . . .

SubSonic is a LOT more than I expected! Music Cabinet takes it to another level alltogether!

Thank you again for your time. :P
