[faq] What I do and what I don't

I appreciate the feedback posted on this forum, and I like getting ideas about new features to add.

Just to be clear though: everything posted as features requests won't get implemented.

First of all, this is something I work on in my spare time, and give away for free. Everything is released as open source (GPL), so if there are parts you'd like to change, I really encourage you to have a look at the source code and start modifying it to fit your own needs. If you create something that might be useful to others, I'd love to hear about it and possibly merge it into the main project for everyone to use.

I know for sure that many people out there have skills that I don't have, so if you patch the code, add a good-looking skin etc, do post it here!

The fact that this is a hobby project also means that some features are more likely to get implemented than others. Personally, I mostly do back-end development, databases and simple web interface work (the artist radio is a good example of this - just a plain link with a lot of magic happening behind the scenes). Other features, like ideas on a completely new interface and HTML tweaks, are more likely to get implemented by somebody specialized in that area, for example the author of Minisub. I do agree that the interface would benefit from a big facelift, but I'm probably not the best person to put in charge of such a project (I know my limits).

What I want you to know is that this project could be changed to fit your personal needs, exactly. If you have good ideas, do post them here for discussion. But also remember that the best way to get the music streaming solution you really want is to get your hands dirty and start experimenting with the code. Go ahead! And when you've created something awesome, make sure to report back here so that others can benefit from your ideas, too.
