MusicCabinet announcements

The new methods added in 4.7 are implemented but not thoroughly tested (I built some auto-tests, and checked manually with Subwiji and iSub, didn't have my Android phone at home). Different clients use the API differently so I can't really guarantee anything without testing each client individually.

Hi,
I'm the developer of SubWiji can I presume this fixes the issue where the api was not allowing calls with the username and password in the POST instead of in the direct URL?
I had this issue with a few people but if its fixed that's great :) I didn't really want SubWiji to embed the credentials in the URL directly.
Thanks
Paul

First off thanks for the update. The album year is a nice addition for the mobile app.

Not sure if this is a MusicCabinet or iSub bug but new playlists "by year" are blank now in iSub, updated "by year" playlists do not update. For example, I add a new album. I re-import all my .m3u playlists into C:\playlists which contain the new album - by year range, by genre, by individual artist, I can see the new album in MusicCabinet no problem for all playlists. Now I look in my mobile app playlists I see the new album in the genre playlist and the individual artist playlist but by year the information is not updating to show the new songs. I have tried a complete refresh and deleting and re-adding the playlist but the mobile app is not seeing the data if the playlist is a year range. It's very strange as if it's pulling a cached version of the playlist and not the current even after deleting and re-adding. If this doesn't sound like a MC bug I'll post over on iSub.

Upon further investigation it looks like if I create a playlist with the same parameters but with a new name it will read the new information. If I use the same name it will only read the old version of the playlist.

Any help/suggestions appreciated. :)

iSub caches your playlists. Drag them upward (just like you can do with the folder view) to have them updated from the server.

Thanks for the quick response.

I've done that, it doesn't update. It did properly refresh the artist only playlist, just not the playlist by year range. I also tried backing up and then manually deleting the more obvious cache files in the isub application folder on my phone. My work around for the time being is to just copy the playlist, re-name and delete old. I put a bug report on iSub forum.

REALLY like having album year in the DSub app now. Thanks a lot. I also really appreciate the stability of these releases. Great stuff.

That's mostly thanks to the early adopters and guinea-pigs (yes, you!) who patiently kept reporting errors in the early releases. Glad you didn't give up!

First thanks a lot for MusicCabinet. I use it every day.

Now, I also have a bug to report: I have one author that has 2 albums with the same name but in different dates. But both appear as one inside MusicCabinet. Could you please also use the year to differentiate between albums?

Thank you hakko for your amazing work. Any news in progress, seems like you vanished? :) I'm using subsonic daily and just stopped by to say hello.

For future development:
I'd like to see listened count and unlistened tracks in some list, is that possible?

Too bad Hakko seems to be MIA. I tried madsonic but came back to MC because of related artists and ...

I tried Madsonic as well and it was an improvement over Subsonic but I prefer Music Cabinet. Related Artists is a nice feature and Artists Radio generates better playlists than Genre Radio. There is that annoying bug when selecting links to last.FM. The patch to fix the bug is on github but I can't figure out how to re-create the .war file due to pom.xml errors.

Hakko was very responsive to questions in this forum. I hope all is well with Hakko. Hopefully he will return.

Hello everyone,

I'm still using Subsonic Musiccabinet, have been using for years, every day. I've been developing my theme rolleshark https://github.com/ronilaukkarinen/rolleshark and lately Last.fm got an upgrade, so some of the stuff broke, for example album art is no longer fetched due API changes https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topi ... y_16126324

Java/maven is not my language, but I'm eager to help with development if someone continues with this.

I hope Hakko is okay, haven't heard him for a long time.

Hello !

I'm still using MusicCabinet everyday too and I'm really sad to see this project dying...

Some friends of mine (with a good java background) tried to take over the project, but after weeks they eventualy gave up.
This is mostly due to the main subsonic code that is really hard to handle, there is a lot to process. And working on this project after working hours can be exausting.

I guess that all the features related to Last.fm will stop working one after another... Also the Subsonic version that MusicCabinet is based on, will be eventually not supported anymore by the mobile apps...
