Better playlist editing...

Postby nicolaibvm » Mon Feb 11, 2013 2:31 pm

I'm not sure if I should request this in the original Request forum, because then it would hopefully be in all the projects that derives from Sindre's work.
But I'm using D-Sub the most and would therefore hope to see this in at least this player.

I like to make the app just create a playlist of 100 files and then listen to them.
But I would like to be able to go through the list and edit it before it starts to download.

So what I would like to have in the android app is:

1) The possibility to edit the generated random list before clicking OK to start download.
2) On that note I would also like to be able to check multiple files and the auto remove from list, remove from cache, delete from phone etc.
3) When in offline mode I would like to be able to mark an artist or an album and choose to delete it from the SD Card or cache it or whatever Iike.

I also have some problems with DSub generally being unstable and shutting down unexpectedly. Don't know if there is a log or something I should get info from???

Hope you can make these "small" changes just for me!?! ;-)

Here is fine for requests for DSub :D

1) I'm not going to do this. What I do want to add is the ability to have drag and drop editing in the now playing tab so you can rearrange stuff as you go though.
2) I don't know what you mean by this one. When you are looking at a list of songs you can select as many as you want and then in the menu there are options to play, delete, etc...
3) In both online and offline mode you can delete artists/albums, or songs by long pressing or clicking the little arrow on the right side.
4) On the main tab under the extended menu is a "Send Log" option. Immediately after a crash open DSub back up and use it to send a log to me. Please add a basic description of what you were doing when it crashed in the message body so that I can better track down what went wrong.

Hi again and thank you for taking the time to reply.

I can see that I did a poor job explaining some of the things i wanted. I will try to correct this.

These requests are all on the now playing app.

When I have a generated list I go through it and remove some of the music that my son have on the server.
I do like some of what he listens to and he what I listen to so to divide it would not work very well.

So as I said I like to ask for a list of 100 random songs and let the phone automatically cache them when I'm on WIFI.
But I go through the list to remove some of the songs. As it is now I have to go through the entire list and remove one song at a time. I could live with that but everytime I remove a song the list goes to the top again and I have to scroll down (which is very sluggish, especially when the caching stops from one song and starts on another).

This is kinda annoying to say the least. Wouldn't it be possible to make Now Playing list behave like the playlist?

That is exactly what question number 2) is also about. The editing of the Now Playing list. When I have to do something with the songs on the list I have to do it one-at-a-time. Why not, again, copy the list behaviour from the playlist and put it in the Now Playing? I reckon it would also be a lot easier to maintain the app if it has 1 list and not 2!?! (But again this is maybe such a fundamental change that I should request this from the "main" app?).

Question 3) is in regards to offline mode. If I click "Go Offline" and go into my library I would like to be able to delete the cached songs from the phone. When I am done listening to my cached songs I would like to delete everything from the SD card, create a new playlist, edit it, cache the songs and start listening.

Like it is now I use a file explorer and delete the songs manually. I can live with that but it would be SO much easier (for me) if I could do it from within the app.
Also here it would be amazing if I could multi select :-) (And again I'm much in doubt if this shouldn't be done in the "Main" app and should be posted in the "Feature Request" part of the forum!?!)

Question 4) When you write the "main tab" is that "Home"? I do not have an extended menu. If I press the Menu button I get "Help", "Settings" and "Exit" and nothing else so I'm not sure what the extended is.

Once again thank you for making DSub and for taking the time to answer all my questions.

Ah ok those requests make more sense now. First let me explain why I don't have the checkboxes in the now playing tab. In the now playing tab I would guess that most of the time when someone clicks on a song they want to have it start playing, not to be selected to do bulk actions. This differs from when you are looking at a playlist as you are usually going to want to do bulk actions (ie: play some, all, etc). Now, that being said, I can definitely understand why you would want to be able to do bulk actions in the now playing tab as well. I am probably going to end up doing a "edit mode" or something where everything has check boxes next to them and you can drag and drop easily. I'm not sure exactly how I plan on doing this but I will definitely keep in mind what you have said when I do get around to it.

Question 3) It sounds like you are looking for a clear all cache button. Am I correct that you want something to just clear everything you have cached on your phone at that time? I can probably add that pretty easily.

Question 4) Yes I mean the Home tab. Are you sure you are on the latest version? For example my menu has Help, About, Send Log, Settings, and Exit.
