DSub and LPA Player wakelock

Postby thelazy8 » Sat Apr 20, 2013 9:20 pm

I recently upgraded to a Samsung GS3 and have noticed that DSub seems to be either causing or triggering a major battery draining wakelock from the LPA Player (50-60% battery drain in 2-3 hours). The only workaround I've found so far is to disable the LPA Player encoding in the build.prop by editing the lpa.decode=true to false. But this is a pain because I have to make this edit any time I wipe and flash a new TW-based rom. And also, I don't know what the repercussions are for disabling the LPA Player for other apps. Any thoughts?

LPA is a low power audio player that takes over the audio stream from the regular media player but strips out effects. It seems to cause some issues with a lot of the S3 variants. If you don't really know what it is, chances are pretty good it's not a direct issue with your app (which I use pretty much exclusively for music). The solution to disable it in build.prop seems like the best option at this point. I was just throwing this out there to see if it could possibly be app related. For informational purposes, the LPA player can also cause issues with playback switching between headphones and speaker. Maybe this can help others with the S3.
