Jukebox (Remote Control) not working

Postby Geissler » Fri Dec 13, 2013 2:04 am

Hi, I'm having trouble getting the Remote Control function to work on the DSub app. Problem: when I tap the RC button the song stops, tapping 'play' changes the icon to playing but does not start the song. Running 4.1.2 on a stock motorola moto G, server is windows 7.

What I've tried:
'phone' user has Jukebox and admin permissions
all players in the drop down list are set to 'jukebox'
playing music through the web interface on the phone works perfectly (music plays through the desktop speakers)!

Because of the last point I gather this is a problem on the app side, but I can't figure out what's causing it. I've dug through the forums but nobody else seems to have experienced this. Anybody got any ideas?

edit: have emailed you a log. But what's really weird is that I have the same problem with the official subsonic client and with ultrasonic, which makes it seem more likely that the problem lies with settings on my phone rather than with DSub in particular. But if the web client works from my phone.. what could be the cause?

The error appears to originate from the server. The error message is very unhelpful though. The web client and the apps do things through two different methods, SK while weird it is possible for it to be broken in one but not the other.

Thanks for the quick reply! It is weird.. been puzzling over it for the past couple of days.

I omitted one detail, which is that I'm running MusicCabinet on the server rather than stock SubSonic. Could this possibly be the cause of the problem? Should I uninstall and attempt with SubSonic in an attempt to isolate it?

It could be. It would definitely make site that it isn't because of that at least

java error with clean subsonic. I don't really want to give up the features of musiccabinet though. Any ideas for a possible fix? Ports are forwarded OK. Thanks.

Not sure if you've tried this but when I get RC issues or a lot of "dead" tracks (songs that either don't load or ornly partially load) I have to use a different player. Delete the payer you're having issues with and start fresh. I forget if it was removing the saved player & restarting as the solution. I always wondered why we had that option for all the players as I never used it, but with this error I'm happy it's there. I hope this works for you.

I've been having a problem with jukebox mode for several builds now. Any time I start up jukebox mode, dsub crashes on my phone. Music will start playing on my server, but I have no control of it when I restart the app on my phone.

Has anybody else had this problem?

If you are the same guy who emailed me, then yes. If you are not, then no you are not alone. If you are not, email me a log after it crashes.
