SubFire (shamless plug :) ) is the only app that is compatible with Amazon Fire TVs/Sticks at this time. I maintain it. it hasn't had an update in a while because I've been writing a new version that will have a better appearance and support using a tablet or browser as a 'remote control', but it remains functional for all features including playlists, folder browsing, artist-album browsing, and album queries.

oh, and it is free! so no harm in trying it out :)

I have tested subsonic. And now... The standard Subsonic App works with Fire TV Stick 2.0 too. I use subsonic for Video and Audio streaming. For Video streaming u need MX Player too. Works... But...
...i think.... The old Subsonic Android Design needs an Design Update and multi language. Unfortunately, the color markers do not work everywhere. Therefore sometimes you do not know which position you have selected in the menu.

And NO. Dsub is not free^^

If you read the DSub sub-form, a link is given for download, e.g. - https://github.com/daneren2005/Subsonic/releases/download/5.3.5/DSub.5.3.5.apk

Test done. DSub is very bad for Fire TV.
I do not see any markers in the menu. The design more suited to a mobile app. For mobile phones to listen to music certainly great. But not for Fire TV.

PS: And movies are not rotated in Dsub on my mobile. And after the first test the films ran. After this, only error message. Movies can not be played at the moment. Reason unknown ^^

Please consider the free SubFire Player for amazon tv/stick as an option? (end shameless plug) If there's a particular feature you would like or an interaction part of it that is bothersome, let me know as I'm in the early design phases for "2.0".

note: I can't support self-signed certs. The amazon html5 app architecture just won't accept them. :(
