I don't know if this will help, but I noticed that pausing a song for two seconds forces the display to update to the correct track information.

That actually quite possibly does help. Can you uncheck the gapless playback setting, and run through a few songs and see if it works correctly? With gapless playback it goes straight from playing to playing, and never goes through a completed playing broadcast that Samsung's implementation might be expecting.

I don't have gapless playback checked. I'll try it both ways tonight when I drive to hockey.

I have similar issue, where the album info on my car doesnt update unless I hit pause and play on either on car or Dsub app in order for the info in the car display to update. I also unchecked the gapless playback, I have s3 wit android 4.3. And running latest version of Dsub app

Can you guys try installing this new apk for me? If pausing it and playing works, I tried adding it so that pretends to be in the paused state for a fraction of a second before starting.

Edit: I forgot to add that this will only possibly work with gapless playback off. Obviously I can get it to work with it on too, but that will be more work so I just want to see if it works at all first.

Sorry it took me a while to post back my result, i just want to test it out thoroughly. Initially for the first couple songs it works as expected and the car display is properly updated then, as i use it throughout the day i.e trips to grocery and other places. I notice that now the songs are stuck on paused, and not playing, i have hit the play button either in my car or on the phone multiple times for each song sometimes. I'm thinking during the sequence of simulating pause and play, somehow(not sure how, sorry i know sounds vague) on one of the sequence of the pause and play, the simulate play is missed hence any sequence after it result in song in pause mode. Is it possible to have it pause for a second or two between songs, then play. I'm just throwing random ideas, ignore me if I offend you. . In any case, I'm going to try using the latest one you posted with the fix for gapless playback and report back with more details.

Both versions are working for me, gapless and non-gapless.

Well, I have some good news, I try the latest version with gapless checked, so far it performs as expected, during my short trip which played 6 songs with no issues. I'll stress test over the next few days to be sure.

UPDATE: I notice that if the playing song is not downloading fast enough the song will pause and and never resume even when it already have cached two or three songs ahead in the playlist. Basically if your playing a song that has never been cached in the app, it will play for a bit as it starts downloading then it pause and never go back to playing the song. I think this maybe the pause behavior i was experiencing earlier.

Did this ever get fully resolved? I just downloaded the latest DSub from the Play Store (4.5.8), but I've noticed the same thing on my head unit. I get no track information whatsoever. I then tried PowerAMP and it DOES send track info (although the track time info isn't sent). I went to the PowerAMP website and listed in the change list is: - Bluetooth track info for Samsungs @ 4.3.

I didn't try to download the posted versions here since they seem to be older than what is on my device.
