DSub 4.5 Beta has been released with Chromecast support. It seems to be pretty stable, but I don't have perfect error handling in yet. If you have a case that you can give me steps to reproduce please post it. One item of note that is that it seems to fail when using my internal IP address, so I changed it to use the public one. I am guessing that means that ChromeCast at the very least is checking the host name to match the SSL certificate. I'm hoping that they accept self-signed certificates, but this makes me think that there is the possibility that they won't.

PS. All of the support libs almost doubled the size of the apk to add ChromeCast support. There isn't anything I can do about it :?

So much for the "it will only add about 20 lines of code' to most existing apps, huh!?! Thanks for this!

Oh yeah that part was always complete crap. Just copy pasting the code they have on their example was like 200-300 before actually adding any custom logic.

Downloaded the Chromecast Beta and I see the Chromecast pop up along with my Apple TV's and I can select it. It shows it is connect on my Galaxy S4 but nothing changes on the Chromecast. When I press play on my phone it doesnt look to be loading a song and nothing play.

Oh wait I'm a idiot. Try again tomorrow I have to publish the receiver as public before anyone else can use it. I forgot that it was on testing only by default. I say tomorrow because it might take time for the changes to propagate to others chromecasts

Everything seems good so far, about to try casting. The only thing golfing me back from switching to this as is main player from "Gone Mad Media Player" is the lack of eq and sound options. Are their plans to enhance this portion of the app?

Fantastic! Is there any way we can have the chromecast preload the next song when we get to the last 10s or so of the current song?

Right now? No. I will probably be writing my own receiver at some point so that I can add things like cooperative playlist editing, but right now I'm just using the default media receiver which does not support setting a next file to play.

Just released what will probably be the last beta that fixes some more issues. If I don't hear anything I will be releasing to everyone on Saturday.

4.5 Beta 3 change log: ...Never sync the demo server.

I never deleted it (occasional testing) and that really tricked me once.

Which is just funny to me. It never even occurred to me that people would leave it there until I started getting complaints about random music showing up in peoples playlists.
