Roland Stone wrote:No its not really a DSub problem, I have the same issue with the official Subsonic app. I was just hoping someone might have an idea what to do or how else to troubleshoot it. I Googled the issue and I'm not the only one with the problem. It seems to be router related. But I don't know how to cure it.

I'm not very good at these IT things, but I'll give it a try. Let's start, are you
1) Using a direct IP
2) Using the standard yourname.subsonic.org (I think that's what the address was)
3) Using a dynamic IP domain service such as dyndns
4) Using your own domain.

Also, are you using an official host server or just your own local home server?

I would guess that you have it setup on the subsonic.org address and if you put in the ip address it would work. I've seen this behavior before and couldn't figure out how to fix it. What happens if you put in the ip address? It looks like 192.168.xxx.xxx or something similar.

If that is the case you should try something like dyndns out. It is free and you can setup a program on either your computer or the server which automatically updates your ip on a certain schedule so that you don't have to worry about manually updating it.

I haven't purchased this app yet. I do have a question though before I do. Do you move the "WiFi - Bitrate" and "Mobile - Bitrate" to be a separate setting under each "server"?

The reason I ask, I have a Nexus 7 that I've attached to a Verizon LTE USB Stick. I can get web access on the tablet using the PPP Widget. When I tried Subsonic over the USB stick, it was not using a transcoder for FLAC files (which was the setting for "Mobile"). This means I could go over my allotted bandwidth very quickly. I think the app is thinking it's a WiFi connection. If I could set these bitrate settings per server, then I could have a server that uses full bitrate over WiFi and one that will use transcoded audio over WiFi, even though they're the same server. Is this at all possible? Thanks!

The bitrate is treated the same for all servers just like in Subsonic

Would it be possible to implement this change, or is that too much effort? Thanks!

That would be a lot of work right now. At some point I plan on improving server selection and making some things per server settings but I haven't even started on it yet and don't plan on starting in the near future.

There is a critical playlist bug in version 3.6.4. (which was pushed on Dec 27) The wrong song plays in various situations.

To replicate, say we have a playlist with 3 songs. Song 1 is cached, song 2 & 3 are not.

Press song 1 -> Song 1 plays
Press song 2 -> Song 2 starts to download, but song 1 is played
Press song 3 -> Song 3 starts to download, but song 1 is played

It's really easy to replicate, just try to start some tracks in a playlist. Please fix this asap :(:(

This issue should be fixed now. Please get back to me after you get the update for whether it fixed it or not.

Hi daneren.

I keep up with each update hoping for a fix for the die-hard stuttering issue (you know, streaming while playing), so naturally I checked out the newest 3.6.5 release today to see if this would finally have the hallowed fix.

Unfortunately, this version broke streaming/downloading entirely. When I pick an album that isn't already cached and tap Play, it says "Downloading - 0 B" and nothing ever happens. I've tried five different albums, tried to restart my SubSonic server and my phone, as well as trying it over both WiFi and 3G, but nothing works. It just won't download anything.
Tested on a Samsung Galaxy S II with standard Samsung-issued TouchWiz Android 4.0.4.

Kind regards,

- Anders Petersen

Me too...

This is getting old. Ever since you tried to fix the studdering we experience when files are downloading in the background DSub has been broken. Where can I download the version just before this? I want the one that worked. I don't care about studdering - I do care about crashing, skipping songs, displaying the wrong song, generally annoying the piss out of me when I'm driving.

Whatever the version of this app that I had on December 8th is the one I want back. It just worked. Please point me in the right direction so I can reinstall it.

Thanks.

Can you try the file in viewtopic.php?f=16&t=11070&p=50748#p50748 out for me first. And I think you want https://github.com/daneren2005/Subsonic/downloads. They stopped allowing more uploads to downloads but the old ones are still up there, just not easily accessible.

And trust me, I'm wishing I hadn't opened this can of worms. I'm sick of everything working for me but magically not working for others for no apparent reason. If I can ever get this stupid playback shit fixed I'm not touching it ever again.

I feel for you, man. I really do.
Just know that we are some who are incredibly grateful for all you have done so far. I mean that. The features you have introduced so far was a great leap in usability for me.
Getting Sindre to acknowledge the issues is like pissing against the wind, and getting him to do something about them is even more futile. For the record, the stuttering issue was never introduced with your fork of the code. It was inherited from the original SubSonic android code and for Galaxy S II owners the stuttering only started about a year ago when we upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich. I few months ago I helped a friend upgrade his Galaxy S II to from 2.3.3 to ICS, and for fun and giggles I tried to both SubSonic and DSub before I did the upgrade. No stuttering at all on 2.3.3. After the upgrade to 4.0.4 was complete, the stuttering was back on both SubSonic and DSub.
