Not sure if this has been posted yet, but: high quality artwork, like on ultrasonic. The scaling and compression as is makes some of the artwork look pretty terrible.

Also, I notice the client will stretch images if they aren't perfectly square to fit the display area. Would it be possible to make it so it won't stretch, or to add an option for it?

Finally, is there a way to sort albums out by something other than alphabetically? Coming from Ultrasonic, it would list albums by year from newest to oldest, so I'm hoping to recreate that behavior on DSub. If it helps anyway, my album folders were named as [yyyy] "name of album". I also have the year in the ID3 tags.

Yeah I'm going to add a option to not use the custom sorting. It fixes issues for a lot of people, but the albums that get sent to the clients don't define the year so there is no way to do the sort by albums that the server does.

As for the album artwork, I'm not sure I follow. I know he did some work on this for Ultrasonic, but I have never been able to tell the difference. I mean I just pulled them up side by side and with high quality artwork I can't even tell the difference.

I think they mean for example cover art for a box set is often rectangular rather than square and the cover art ends up getting distorted. The aspect ratio of the original art should always be maintained.

Any chance you can implement Immersive full-screen mode from Android 4.4 for devices with on screen navigation buttons?

Yes, I am planning on removing the old 4 full screen themes, and making a separate option for full screen. It will use the standard full screen API on older versions of Android, and add in the immersive mode flag for the 4.4+.

It's more noticeable on some artwork than others, if you look at the actual file properties you can see that it's being resized and compressed. An example:

Original: http://i.imgur.com/LfYDbkj.jpg

Nexus 7 (2013) scaling: http://i.imgur.com/uMEIcmZ.jpg

Galaxy SII scaling: http://i.imgur.com/xuUWbwX.jpg

Ultrasonic downloads and stores the original image, and simply scales to fit the screen.

And as mr_nobody said, artwork that isn't totally square gets stretched and distorted as well

Also, my only other beef for now is the way some of the navigation is laid out. What I mean by that is, say I'm on the Now Playing screen and need to switch servers, it takes something like 9 taps to to change the server and go back to the library. If there were a way to directly access the side panel from anywhere or something equivalent would be pretty useful.

You can just swipe from the left side of the screen to bring up the side panel (I just checked...this works from the now playing screen also).

Sounds like the Google Chromecast SDK will be dropping any day now. Would LOVE to have support for it! :D

The context menu when clicking the ... button is getting pretty large, but I understand it is nice to have all of those features available for those who use them. It would be great if we could customize subset of that context menu to show up when clicking the album artwork from the album lists. In the settings, you could put a menu for checking which options you want in the quick context box, and when the album art is selected it would bring up your most used options rather than the full list. This way you'd still have access to everything but your most used options are easier to get to.

Second request is to add support for the latest beta3 features that allow browsing by genre and decade! Knowing you you're probably already working on it, :D

Yeah, I want to just take some off, but when I look everything is there because someone wants it there. I might just go with adding some of the less used ones as options to not show. Don't know if I really want to make EVERYTHING a option, since that would make a huge list on your screen a huge list in settings instead lol. And yeah I plan on adding the new album types. I also already fixed some issues that the new beta introduced to the genres (ie: They aren't sorted anymore, and weird characters were getting sent as &2342;&1232; etc...).

I'd still love to see a more transparent background for the DSub widget... either settable or just more transparent. The other 2 music widgets that share that screen on my phone are Poweramp and Pandora, both of which have much more transparent backgrounds (opacity ~20-30%, rather than ~80%)

Well I'm complete crap when it comes to messing with image resources. If anyone is willing to make a semi transparent background like the one Pandora uses, then I can use it. But as it is I can't figure out how to and can't figure out which one of the image in the Pandora apk is the widget background. Image manipulation just isn't my forte ;)

I finally upgraded from 4.1.8 and there is one thing that I'm missing. In the old versions when I would click on Random and then click on an album, I could click on the top drop down and have the ability to go the album artist. Would it be possible to make the artist name clickable inside an album. Or adding that breadcrumb back in to the navigation dropdown?
