Lyric display for lyrics stored in-tag. Ideal: lyric search
Discogs album art search based on tag.
option to remap "EQ" function to third party EQ app, i.e. Viper or Cyanogen DSP.

Registered to ask about the inclusion of a "Show Artist" function & saw that it had already been requested! Has it been added to a production release, yet? I'd expect it in the context [...] menu of the Now Playing screen (I am running 4.5.4), but it's not there & I don't see a way to enable it in settings.

Thanks for the hard work on this app, Scott. It's amazing -- by far the best thing I've downloaded to my Android devices.

1) I'm not going to use the lyrics-stored in tags. The server provides a method to lookup lyrics. It needs to be changed to get the lyrics from the tags if they exist.
2) Not sure what this means
3) I can look into it. Do you have an example of another app that does this?

I added Show Artist to other places such as search and the album lists on the home view. I can add it to the context menu on the Now Playing screen, but I will warn that it will only work some of the time. For example, when playing from a playlist, the return data does not have the artist id in it, so there is no way for me to know which artist to display.

1) How does one view lyrics in app?
2) If album art is missing, do a search on discogs.org or other major database for cover art
3) Xenoamp

Thanks for the followup!

Can't you source this data from the id3 tag?

Once upon a time when I first started using DSUB, you could go to artist from almost anywhere. I assume you changed something that made this harder, but the demand is there for many of us.

Would it be possible to show Show Artist in the context menu of the Now Playing screen only in cases where Artist data is, in fact available?

I am a stream-of-consciousness music browser, with a very large collection of (well-tagged) music. I'll often start listening to something from the Recently Added menu (the new Beck, for instance) and suddenly have the urge to browse old Beck albums. It'd be easiest (as a user) to be able to link to the artist by tapping on the artist's name in the Now Playing screen. But I'd be perfectly happy if I could get the same result using the context menu.

If you could add my request to your list, great (sounds like I'm not the only one who'd enjoy it) . If not, dSub is still the best music player (and I'd contend Android app) out there.

Sure can. @MetalJR: I can get the Artist name, but I need the id to provide a show artist button, so the id3 tags don't help with that.

Just updated & can't find Show Artist in the context menu of the Now Playing view. I see Save Playlist, Screen On (nice feature), Start Timer, and Show Downloading. Am I missing it?

Its in the context menu not the main menu. So click the little button to the right of the song.

I see Details, Show album, Lyrics, Remove from queue, Delete cache, and Add to Playlist. I must be missing a setting somewhere.

No you probably just got the songs there by playing from a playlist. Right now the artist isn't set in the playlist data, but I should have a work around soon.

I just installed 4.5.6 & I can see Show Artist in the context menu of a song in the Now Playing queue. But if I select it, I get a NullPointerException error, and I am bounced to the Library screen (I use it as a home screen). Show Artist works if selected from the context menu for an album in the Random or Recently Added lists. I'm looking forward to having this feature when you get it working. Thanks for all your work on this.

I can only reproduce the problem in one specific case: there is no artist. A traditional folder setup is Artist -> Album -> Songs. If you have it setup like Albums -> Songs, it throws the error because there is no artist to lookup (unless you are browsing by ID3 tags, in which case I can't reproduce it). I can fix the error, but unless I'm missing something I can't do anything but make it go to the album page because there is no artist to go to in that case. Let me know if that isn't what you are seeing.

My library file structure is set up Album Artist --> Album --> Songs. It's a fairly large library (15,053 ID3 tagged Artists, 6,365 Album Artist folders), and it's meticulously (some would say obsessively) maintained; in no case is there no artist. I tested with Mogwai -- from the Now Playing screen I get the error, but when selected from the Recently Added screen all Mogwai records in my library are displayed without issue.

Maybe Show Artist is just not destined to work for me, which is fine -- I'm still a huge fan of dSub. But as a previous commenter noted, ad hoc browse by artist is a feature that dSub once had & which worked fine -- & which I used all the time. Now that it's gone I really miss it.
