In a recent update, the swipe up or down gestures changed from scrubbing forward or back in a track to playing or pausing.

At least in my daily life, scrubbing is something much more helpful as there is no other means to quickly do so. Trying to click on the little progress bar to scrub back or forward in a song is a difficult task while say, driving a car (try to do it 5 times without accidentally hitting a neighboring button and taking you even more taps away from getting what you wanted).

Playing / Pausing on the other hand has its own big button which for me is already very easy to hit. It also seems more intuitive to have a single gesture for both playing and pausing since it is a state (you are either playing OR pausing) rather than a linear adjustment. In an ideal world, we could designate what each gesture (up, down, left, right, single tap, double tap) does at the user level in a settings menu, but at a minimum I'd like to see what others prefer and hope that it can either be reverted to the old gesture setup or have the scrubbing feature addressed another way instead of dismissed altogether.

Single tap on album art already does something important.

I also feel that seeking back to the beginning of the song is impossible while the phone is in portrait; the beginning of the seek bar is too close to the left edge of the screen, so if I pull the position marker all the way to the left, I can't normally get past the :05 mark or so. I have to turn the phone into landscape in order to seek back to the bery beginning.

Yah I can change the actions back to scrubbing. I didn't realize that people were actually using them

@ flvinny521: just press the back button. If you are less than 10 seconds (I think), it goes back to the previous song, but if you are beyond that then it goes back to the beginning of the same song

Thanks daneren! I'm not exactly sure how many people are using them either which was one of the goals of the post- to figure out if others felt the way i did.

All i can say is it's a sorely missed feature for me and i'd love to see it tossed back into the next release.
