DSub won't play as of today.

Hello, as on this morning I am unable to play music with DSub. When I select a song to play it appears to only download 3kb of the file and just says "buffering" without playing anything. I re-installed the app, but the problem persists. I also attempted to play a video via the web/flash interface and get a message that says "Video not found or access denied: ....etc." I am able to view my libraries, just can't play from them. Everything worked fine last night, and I haven't changed anything. Any thoughts? Thanks.

That sounds a lot like a server issue, though I am not sure why it would start all of a sudden. Can you verify you get similar behavior on the original Subsonic client just to make sure it's not a problem on my end?

What phone du you have? Probably a Samsung!?!
Can you play music using any player? Does the ring tone and message tone work?

And finally have you tried to restart your device?

I have the galaxy s3 and I experience these problems to and I have to restart the phone to get it working again.

No it was definitely on the server side. I uninstalled subsonic again and deleted both of the folders and all of the files that it left behind. After I re-installed it again and set it all back up, it is working again. I am wondering if there is just a specific settings file I could have just deleted to accomplish the same thing?

For those with the buffering/non-playing issue on Samsung (specifically GS3, may affect others), I think this may be related to the LPA Player issue I raised in a separate topic. Both my wife and I have identical GS3 phones. I installed dsub on both and used the same exact configuration, then tried to download and play the same exact album. It worked no problem on my phone (with lpa.decode=false in build.prop) and it had the buffering issue on my wife's phone (with lpa.decode=true, which is factory default) until I edited her build.prop as well, then the issue went away. Apparently this LPA Player issue can cause a few different problems you may or may not experience such as battery drain via runaway wakelock, songs unexpectedly switching to speakers when headphones are already plugged in, and now maybe this issue as well. Hopefully this helps.

Yah, after doing some research it appears most of the problems people are getting stem from this crappy object. I've done some research and there are quite a few threads detailing how it is a problem, just not how to fix it. I have been trying a bunch of different stuff with people via email but so far not much has helped. Unfortunately I can't assume that the average user is going to have their phones rooted to fix it themselves

I don't know much about app development but if you ever need anyone else to test potential workarounds, let me know if I can help. I know this issue is present in most, if not all of the US GS3 variants and seems to have arrived with the 4.1.1 upgrade. Maybe it gets fixed when the 4.2.2 update rolls out?

Based on some research it seems like the "normal" way of getting around this issue is to create a media player and set it up on a decent length mp3 (ie > 60 seconds) but just don't use it. This makes it so that the LPA player is being used and that way only normal media player objects will be used. I was trying to avoid doing this, but I have pretty much exhausted every other possible fix, so I will be doing this later today after work and post up here. We can see if that works or if there is more to the story.

Alright, here is a version doing what others have suggested to hide the use of the LPA player. Let me know if it helps at all.

Very initial testing and LPA player does not seem to be causing any runaway wake lock battery drain. Albums that previously had some buffering issues seem to be playing fine so far. Will have to test on wife's phone later. Will try to test the headphone/speaker issue next.
