Feature Requests

Postby Mr. Odd » Wed May 01, 2013 5:56 pm

I'm a new DSub user - thanks so much for all your time and effort, it's a great improvement from the stock Android client. I have a few feature requests for your (doubless long) queue:

- Autofind in library when entering text (I have a Droid 3 with a keyboard slider, browsing my large library is easier when I can just type the band name and jump to it).
- Save custom EQ setting
- Add track number/total tracks to Now Playing screen

Are these on your radar or too far down the priority list?

1) I'm not sure what you mean. Click the little search icon and you can type instead of just looking for the right artist.
2) When the EQ is enabled it should be auto saving your settings between playback sessions. Is it not for you?
3) Sure. Where do you think would be a good place for it to be placed in the UI? I'm looking and don't see a good spot for it.

Thanks for the quick response.

1) I mean it'd be great, instead of searching, to just start typing and have the band/album/track name just pop up. I think this is how it worked on the regular Subsonic android app.
2) It does keep my EQ settings between sessions but I'd like to be able to save my settings to a custom EQ profile and switch between it and presets depending on what I'm listening to.
3) You could put the current track number/total tracks on the far right of the track name, or on top on the lower right corner of the artwork? How about on right side of the line above the track name?

Thanks for your consideration!

1) Ah yes I will have to look into that.
2) I will put it on the todo list but with how many things I want to get done right now I would consider it pretty low priority.
3) Alright I will definitely add it somewhere then. Thank you for the suggestion.

Is the multidisc function still on your priority list? See this thread http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=11874
I hope so, because I have many multidisc albums and they are not presented correct in DSub.
Thank you in advance.

I have a feature request, not sure if it's possible or not but it's bugged me for a long time.

If you shuffle from the home tab (the dialog where you choose years/genres for random play), it constantly refreshes the playlist with new songs so there are always 20 tracks. However, if you exit dsub and come back to the playlist, now it is just a static playlist of 20 songs and no new songs get added. Is it possible for the pre-exit behaviour to continue if you resume playing the existing playlist? Thanks.

I'm not sure how much work it would take, but yah I will definitely add it to the todo list and look into it.

Looking more into this I can't remember what is it that people want done with multidisks? At least for the stock Subsonic I tried putting a two part album in one folder and they show up fine for me in DSub (ie: Disc 1 01, Disc 1 02...Disc 2 01, etc...)

In Musiccabinet my multidisc albums are shown in the right way. But in Dsub it is sorted like this: disc 1 01, Disc 2 01, Disc 1 02, Disc 2 02 etc. Hakko wrote that the disc number was introduced in the REST API in version 1.8.0. It could be that DSub and Ultrasonic doesn't use this for sorting tracks. So maybe you can configure this in Dsub?

Thank you for looking at this.

I have one other request. Can you add on the home screen the starred artists? Or three options if you click on "starred" on the homescreen: 1. Starred artists 2. Starred albums 3. Starred songs.
Do you find this a good idea?

When I click on Top Rated on the homescreen, dsub shows "no media found". Do you know what caused this?

By Musiccabinet shows it the right way, do you mean in the web app? Hakko is right that the discNumber is introduced in 1.8.0, but in the default Subsonic seems to sort it the right way before being sent to the client which seems like the optimal way to go about it. I mean really it would only take a few lines of code to add the sorting to DSub, it's just more the fact that in general I try to keep as much of the processing in the server as possible to avoid slow downs when loading. I haven't heard much from hakko lately though, is he still around making changes? If he isn't I will throw it in just because the sub-optimal way is still better then no way at all :D

This has been on the todo list for just about forever. It just keeps getting pushed back because no one else has shown any interest in it so I have been working on things people were interested in first. I'll definitely bump it up on the todo list and get around to it sometime soon though. It might take a little while though because currently the structure was designed to only show album folders/contents, and I have to add support for it just for this use case.

As for Top Rated, do you have any rated media? I know right now there isn't really any support for rating through the app, so I know most people don't use it. If you don't do it through the web client then you will never see anything show up in the Top Rated list. Or if you do actually have ratings and they still aren't showing up I need to look into it to make sure something isn't broken there.

I mean the web app of musiccabinet. I don't know if Hakko is still working on musiccabinet. His last post is about two months ago, so I hope that you will add the multidisc function in dsub. Thank you very much!

I will look again into the top rated songs. Thanks for your reply!

Love the most recent updates!

I noticed selecting a video file allows you to choose a method to play it.. But sending it to mxplayer doesn't seem play anything. I did notice though just today the subsonic main app just got an update to push video to mxplayer.. Is this a feature we could see in your app? Thanks for the work!
