Random playlist support

Postby nicolaibvm » Fri Jun 21, 2013 6:28 am

I use the client to get a list of 100 random songs, which I cache when I am on WiFi and then play on the go.
But unfortunately I have a lot of problems.

1) The player suddenly stops playing.
2) When pausing a song and then starting playing after a while (don't know how long) the song start to play from the last position for like a second and then starts the song over.
3) When pausing a song and then starting playing after a while it seems that the playlist starts over, or randomizes the songs again (don't know which).
4) When getting random songs from server it doesn't stick to the selected folder but also gets from all the others.
5) When selecting the client to randomize the songs it adds the same songs more than once
6) The player suddenly pauses by it self. But I'm not sure if this is DSub or some android thing as it does the same thing when playing using the player that was preinstalled.

These are the things I can think of right now.

But if these things are fixed it would be great to have endless random playback. Then I could setup how many songs it should play before deleting from the start and adding new to the end of the playlist and if it should only cache when on WiFi. This feature would be awesome.

It would also be fantastic to have the ability to add random songs from multiple folders and multiple genres. But I guess this is something from the server and should be asked in the subsonic forum???

Hope anyone can help me.

1/6) If the other players do as well, then it isn't a client problem. Chances are you having something asking for audio focus even when it shouldn't. I know I have had problems with this for some apps like Winamp always just asked for focus in the background for no reason.
2) No idea here
3) It probably is randomizing again. I can see if there is an issue here. It might be getting a new list before the old list is loaded...
4) Can you send me a log immediately after starting a random shuffled list (ie: shuffle from the main screen). I can see if it is actually putting in the folder id correctly.
5) Can't really do much about this since I'm just asking for random songs from the server.

Hello Daneren and thank you for replying so quickly.
And sorry for me not replying as fast.

1/6) Do you know of any way I can find out which app could be asking for focus? I have send you a log from the last two times it happened. I hope you can find the reason. :D All the files are downloaded from WiFI after having created the random playlist and have been playing fine and suddenly not.
2/3) Don't know if this can be the reason but the list is not saved as a playlist. I'm just randomizing and playing. Do you save it as a temp playlist or is this just in the app's memory and maybe that is killed and that will of course delete the playlist?
4) I just tried again and this time there was no problems. Will send you a log if it happens again. The funny thing is that there were no doubles in the playlist either this time :)

But thank you again for your help on these things.

1) Not that I'm aware of. I looked in your logs and didn't see anything that jumped out at me.
2) Yah, when you pause the app it saves to a tmp playlist in a hidden file, and restores from it when you restart the app. After loading the tmp playlist, if you were doing random play it resumes the random play. I looked at the code and I don't see any reason why it would be resetting on you, and I even tried it out myself and it seemed to work fine for me.
4) Randoms showing up twice are going to be...well, random ;)
