Hi,

Firstly, thanks for a wonderful app.
Second, just a tiny bug bear for me. Sorting on multi disc or multi folders get listed first instead of alphabetically. Like for example if I have a folder for the Rocky soundtracks it will be listed before hackers soundtrack which would just be a folder with tracks inside whereas the Rocky folder would have folders inside that folder.

Hope I've made this clear. It happens on the default app too. It changed server side a while back but I've seen iPhone apps sort it correctly. Can this be done? If you need more examples just say and I'll pm you access to my server.

While I understand what you mean, I wasn't able to reproduce it one my own. Go ahead and PM me a temp access and I can look at the problem directly

I'm not sure I'm understanding how the problem has anything to do with multi disc albums. For example in the Soundtrack folder I don't see any multi disc albums. It just sorts by year, and then the ones that don't have a year are sorted by alphabetical order at the bottom.

I think I've gotten it wrong saying multi disc. It's more multi album folders being shown before single folders. Can I not just have all the folders listed alphabetically ?

Some of the multi disc are in the compilations mixed folder. So if I have an album folder with cd1 and cd2 folders inside that it's listed before an album with just tracks inside. Same case if I've a collection folder with album folders inside it's again listed before an album with just tracks inside. For example the grease folder is listed near the top because it has grease one and two inside whereas chef aid is normal cause it just has tracks inside.does this make anymore sense?

This bug has been bothering me for months, and only today did I figure out why my folders are being alphabetized twice.
On my server, I have music organized by album(usually a folder full of songs, sometimes a folder full of multiple folders for two-part albums, etc) and by artist(usually a folder for each album, with odd songs and singles in the artist's root folder). When I go into "root>albums" or "root>artists" I'm seeing folders organized A-Z then A-Z again.

It seems the first alphabetization is for folders that have no songs in the root folder. For example, my Phantom of the Opera album which has no files inside but two more folders - part 1 and part 2, with songs in each. Most of the folders in my "Artists" directory end up here, as they usually contain many albums with no songs at root. Folders that have NO contents also end up in this first half.
The second alphabetization is for folders that have at least one song in the root folder. It makes no difference if the folder in question has more folders nested inside of it. Examples from the second half of this list include albums full of songs, and artists that may have released a song or two that I didn't put in a specific folder.

Do you guys have the custom sort option under Appearance settings checked?

Nope the box remains unticked coz I'd rather sort alphabetically.

Ok, that is why I couldn't figure out what you guys were talking about. That is not a sort by alphabetical or sort by year option. That option is to either apply a sort in the app, or to use whatever default sort the server already sends in. As you can tell it sorts kind of retarded, but that's what a bunch of people wanted. I need to decide whether I want to add yet another option to sort in the client alphabetically or to just change the existing option to do that.

Yeah. That sorting order to me makes little sense.

I actually only pushed the update to the beta channel in case anyone else sees that and is wondering wtf lol
