cache location no longer writable...blah blah blah

Out of the blue I got this message. It goes on to say that the location dsub uses has already been automatically changed to the correct location, although no change really occurred. It is still using the same location it always has. BUT, now it dsub cannot play nay music because it seems that it cannot write cached files to that folder.
I have looked at that folder. Everything looks fine. There is no temp file there like some have reported. I tried to manually write to that folder, and it appears to be read only! I am running cyanogenmod 11 on an S3.
Any ideas?

Help! Is this a dsub issue or a cyanogenmod issue? Could someone point me in the right direction?

It only gives that message when DSub is not able to write to that location so I would guess a cm issue.

OK. Thanks. Do you have any ideas why this may have happened? I have not touched the ROM for months. I didn't touch my dsub installation. I can't think of anything else I might have done.
I don't know what to search or where because I don't really understand what the problem is.

It might be a sign of a failing SD card. You might also want to manually check the permissions of the folder DSub is trying to write to.

I suspected a failing SD card as well. It looks like that may be the case. I am trying to revive it. Chkdsk failed. Format under windows and osx failed. Currently trying a low-level format (HDD Low Level Format Tool 4.40)! I'm desperate!
Do you have any tips on restoring a failing/failed sd card? Do you know how I can determine for sure that it is failed?
(BTW, thanks for all your replies!)

No I do not, sorry. I haven't been using SD cards since my Atrix 4 years ago (holy crap, didn't realize it had been that long).

Ok. I think I'll follow up with my progress on this thread, in case it might benefit anyone.
But, I don't know if the behaviour of dsub is what should happen in my case. So, my sd card might be failing... It was mounted read-only by the os. DSub gave me a warning (that, in my case was a bit unclear), and it said that it would select the default folder, which it did, which is on my read-only card! Maybe you could provide some more/better information in your warnings? Also, maybe in this case it should have switched to using the internal card?

True. The message should probably be improved for your specific case. It was really designed as a warning for people having issues with the SD card changes introduced in KitKat, and not as a general catch all for broken SD cards

Fair enough.
And it seems like it was a bad sd card. Tried a bunch of things, but can't seem to get it working. It's stuck in some kind of weird read only mode. I can read from it find no matter where I mount it (phone, pc, mac), but I can't delete anything, write anything or format it.
I put in a new sd card and dsub is working fine once again.
Again, thanks for your support and your fine program!
Edit: sandisk 64gb card being replaced under warranty

You probably tried this already, but are you sure that the read-only tab on the side of the card is not broken. I had a (full-size) SD card that the tab broke off and i hadn't noticed.

Ah. My phone (like most, I think) takes a microSD card. No read-write tab.
