[REQ] Manage cache on android device from server

Postby tnt533 » Wed Mar 11, 2015 5:42 pm

I would love to be able to tell my server to cache specific music on my Samsung Note 3. I'm not sure if this is even an option with the current API but I prefer to save data and cache what I know I will be listening to for the next day or even week on my 64 gigabyte micro-SD card.

I understand I can manage it from my phone and the interface in DSUB for this feature is really easy to use but I want central management. My son is on a different carrier with really spotty data service where he lives so it would be nice for him to be able to sit down at my computer and manage his cache as well when he's over. I have a very large collection which is much easier to browse from the PC interface.

This would unfortunately require server support. I honestly doubt this will ever happen since DSub would probably be the only one to implement support for it, and it would require dedicated space in the web GUI which wasn't useful and probably confusing for most of the users. Subsonic is slowly getting better in general, but this is one feature that probably will never happen except in ecosystems where the developers support both the server and the apps (ie: Plex).

Would it be possible to have an option to sync all items on a playlist? That seems like it could cover this request

Great thanks, didn't know this was there. New to the app and Subsonic, gave up waiting for Plex to improve their music features.

Sorry to hijack the thread :)

That's fine. Now the other guy has a work around if he wants to use it as well.
