Gapless Playback doesn't seem to be working

Have gapless checked, but I'm still getting a second or so pause in between. I've checked some songs that I know are gapless on the computer via media player and they indeed played fine.

I just sent a note to the developer about this. Gapless playback isn't working right for me either.

I do have the box checked in the settings, but I can still hear a slight gap between tracks. I use The Beatles' "Abbey Road" as my test CD, but I also tested a few live albums and the gap between tracks, while not as pronounced as with some Subsonic apps, is still noticeable.

To date, I've only found Ultrasonic to actually do perfect gapless playback with Subsonic. I'm not sure what that developer does differently, but he's got it figured out.

With DSub, I tried disabling gapless playback, restarting the app and turning it back on. Sadly, I still got the same result.

Anyone else notice a problem with gapless playback?

Do we know if this is on the roadmap for improvement? I hope so! I really like everything else about DSub.

I don't know what to tell you to be honest. Ultrasonic copied my implementation on Gapless playback so there is no reason that it should be any different. There is nothing else I can change about it.

What phone/OS are you running?

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S6 on T-Mobile running Lollipop 5.1.1

I'm going to try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Weird that it doesn't work the same as Ultrasonic if it's similar code for gapless playback.

I hope it's not a quirk of the phone. So far, I really like the S6.

Gapless Playback works the same for me with both Ultrasonic & DSub. Phone being used is the Galaxy S5.

However, Gapless playback not working perfectly like iSub & Neutron player. There's always a small but perceptible Gap!

That's not true for me. Ultrasonic is perfectly seamless, no small gap at all on any recording.

I've discovered that Dsub handles gapless playback on some but not all of the same recordings. I can't explain why it behaves differently than Ultrasonic for me, but it does. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Dsub with no change.

Does Gapless Playback work over Chromecast with Dsub? This is probably the #1 feature I've been searching for in a streaming music service. So far, Google Play is the only service I've found that supports gapless casting, but I really don't like storing my music in the cloud.

It's on the TODO list but no currently it is not supported. When I first added Chromecast support it wasn't even possible. I just haven't had the time to rewrite it to support it since it was added a while back.

So after messing with it for a couple of hours I am not sure what voodoo magic GPM is doing to get gapless Playback to work on the Chromecast. There is a queue API that should support it but no matter what I do it doesn't actually preload the next song so it can just start when the previous one is finished.

Thanks for looking into it, daneren2005. I figured it was a matter of pre-loading the next song. So weird that the queue API isn't doing it. Maybe GPM uses a custom API to handle it?

BTW, it's impressive how quickly you work at improving DSub! If only more app developers were like you.

I'm also having problems with Dsub not handling gapless playback. I am transcoding to ogg vorbis.

Latest D-Sub from Play Store on a 2015 Moto X Pure.
