Shuffle/Random Song Play for Genre(s)

Is it possible to randomly play songs by genre? It seems that when I select a genre, all the albums for that genre appear, I hit shuffle, and then pseudo (see note at end) random album is selected by the app and then all the songs from that album are played. Is there any way for me to select a genre, and then have songs with that genre get randomly played (not album order)? Or, have an app wide genre filter when you can check 1 or more genres and only songs meeting that criteria are active within the app. Also, it seems that when albums are shuffled by genre, ones that the app have played previously are getting played way more often - it doesn't seem truly random as I have over 20k songs for the genre that I usually listen to.

Home or Library tab -> shuffle -> set a genre to shuffle by.

I tried this (screen with year min/max and genre) left the years blank and selected country rock, and noticed repeatedly the following behavior:

1) many times dsub left on the screen, connecting to server, let that go sometimes for minutes and it never did finish. Subsonic server is 20 ft away across WIFI.

2) when it does connect, 5 times in a row it kicked off Alan Jackson, and played around 4 or 5 Alan Jackson songs in a row. I find this extremely odd as there are over 20k country rock socks that I have (dsub indicated this on genre list).

Is there a debug log that I can enable and send to you? I played around with all this for 20 minutes and it ended in frustration, was left with having to select songs manually.
