D-Sub casting

When I cast to a Chromecast Audio, does the music play directly on the Chromecast from the Subsonic server, or is D-Sub used as a middle man the whole time music is playing?

It is casted from the Subsonic server in Online mode and as long as the setting Casting -> Use device proxy is off.

Does it matter if the backend is 5.3 or 6?
