Crossfade tracks

To pair with the gapless playback feature, it would be awesome to see some crossfade functionality when songs change. 8)

I use this on Foobar2000 and it makes playback feel much more like a DJ experience :)

Loving the app--keep up the good work!!

I will add it to the TODO list, but I would estimate it as a ways off

Thanks! I can imagine it might be a difficult feature, especially since Subsonic doesn't offer this natively.

But with some tinkering with the song cache that you've made I bet it's possible :)

I would love to see this feature as well. I also thought that it probably had to be a feature subsonic needs to offer first before dsub could offer it but if it could be pulled off that would be a fantastic feature to have. Using it for playlists makes any playlist better.

Thanks!

Also, just fyi, crossfading using MusicBee + Subsonic Client plugin on Windows works great :)

So, it'd definitely possible on the client-side

It's a client side thing.
Especially once you add cached/offline playback to the mix, the server cannot have any part of crossfading.

My iOS app (play:Sub) implement simple time-based crossfading, but you can really spend a lot of effort implementing a more advanced crossfade algorithm.
To do anything more fancy than the time-based crossfade, I believe some analysis of the audio content is necessary to achieve better results.
