CarSub V5 is out!

Postby rich600 » Sat Dec 13, 2014 11:58 am

Hi all,

another week, another release of CarSub!

This following has been added:
  • Subsonic Playlist support with integrated intelligent caching
  • Control over the streaming bitrate (defined in the config)
  • An alternative Now-Playing screen with buttons instead of gestures (defined in the config)
  • Finer grained configuration over what CarSub caches
  • Some minor tweaks and fixes.

As usual the next version is underway. Aside from a couple of fixes, V6 will contain support for iPhone 6/6 Plus screen resolutions. It should be submitted to Apple next week.

Have a great Christmas everyone.

Fantastic App - gets better and better with each release!

Just missing easy access to 'Most Player' and 'Top Rated' to be perfect for me :D

Hi,

thanks very much!

Will add your requests to the backlog. They're actually very simple to implement.

Cheers

I just saw that this new app was out and purchased it. So far, this is the best iOS SubSonic client by far! My favorite client in DSub for Android, but I am required to use an iPhone as my company phone and I have been searching for an iOS client that actually works for almost a year now. Thank you so much for developing it and I hope it proves worthwhile to you to continue to maintain it.

I noticed that it doesn't seem like Ogg Vorbis is supported, so I would like to put in a request for that. I use flac to aoTuV Vorbis transcoding to get good audio at very low bitrates in order to save on data (it also helps when you are driving through low/slow signal areas because you don't have to download as much data to keep your stream going). For now I have just set the player to do mp3 transcoding, the additional codec support would be great.

BTW - If I am wrong and the Vorbis transcodes SHOULD be working, just let me know and I will try to get you any logs/specs you may need to troubleshoot.

Thanks, again!

Hi

thanks for trying CarSub and I'm glad you like it.

CarSub uses a streaming library called StreamingKit and that doesn't support Vorbis I'm afraid.

Cheers
