CarSub V7 now available - search, random + more

Postby rich600 » Wed Jan 21, 2015 9:26 pm

Hi all,

I'm pleased to announce that CarSub V7 is now available.

Version 7 of CarSub has the following new features:

- Full Search of your Subsonic music collection
- Play random albums
- Play random songs
- Play highest rated
- Play most frequently played

Tweaks:

- Ability to cancel the buffering/loading view (tap view to cancel)
- For SubSonic v5.1 and above, you can chose whether anything in the Get Albums... section comes from the current music folder, or all your music

Bugs fixed:

- Loading spinner now shows when selecting Playlist
- Change of play/pause on remote control when Carsub is in the background will correctly update the icon on Now Playing
- Streaming bug on old Subsonic versions fixed

V8 is underway - I've already added an ID3 Tag mode and Last.FM integration + more tweaks and fixes.

Cheers
Rich.

Rich,

Thanks for your continued progress on your app. It's just getting better and better.

Any progress with gapless playback? It was still about the same the last time I tested it. It's still not quite seamless.

Keeping my fingers crossed that this might be something coming up in a future version.

Hi,

thanks for the feedback.

I looked into the micro-gap, and I've posted an issues on the project Wiki, but I've got no response from the developer. I created a stand-alone app that demonstrated the problem, so it should be simple to replicate.

There have been some changes in the library that have yet to be incorporated into CarSub, and I will be moving those into the app in the future.

Cheers

Could you please add random from folder? For example I have my families collection sorted into master folders. I'd like to be able to press random, then select the folder and have it create a random playlist on the fly and start playing.

Hi

when you say cache is not working, could you tell me what problems you've got and I can take a look at them.

What OS version you're running and what device?

Thanks
Rich

I was able to cache an album, then I tried to cache a playlist and nothing happened. I don't know if relevant, but the playlist contain one song from the album I was able to download along with other songs. When I check the playlist in the cache section it only shows one song (the one included in the downloaded album).

I'm using iOS 8.1.3, iPhone 6

Thanks!

Thanks for the info.

It sounds like it didn't download the playlist at all. The reason it shows the 1 song is because it recognized that it already had it in the downloaded album, so it reuses that rather than duplicate the song and waste valuable cache space.

I'll take a look at the scenario.

Cheers
