Hi all,
AVSub V17 is out now (after an amazingly quick review turnaround by Apple!) and contains the following new features:
- Internet radio station support (works for Chromecast too)
- Chromecast video support (as part of the Chromecast in-app-purchase)
- Play/shuffle subfolders - gives you the ability to play an entire artists music
- Cache auto-delete - automatically delete the oldest item in the cache to make way for new media
- Repeat single track
- Support for video streaming when using Madsonic
- Temporarily disable caching from the now-playing screen
- A redesigned front menu screen
- Improved in-app support. You can contact support directly from inside AVSub
- Changes to support Subsonic 6
- Fixed a bug applying the equaliser to the next track
- Fixed a problem with the reconnection logic
I've updated the guides on the site to include a Chromecast video transcoding setup guide too.
Please leave any feedback here.
Cheers
Rich

I used the app a year or so ago, it didn't work very good. Would not load my music. However, a year later it is much improved. Nice app, please keep up the good work. A feature to play the top songs for an artists would be great!

Hi
Thanks for the feedback - your requested feature is in the next version as part of a larger change
It'll be a few weeks for the next version though, as there are other things in it too.
Cheers
Rich

Rich,
Longtime no speak/write! I continue to use the DSD playback capability for .dsf files via your app, and loving AVSub overall - it is now my go-to player. HOWEVER (there had to be a but right!), I am having trouble with Radio stations. I have used 7 or 8 radio stations for years on my Subsonic server, and they work great from a desktop PC/MAC to stream, and that's served my needs well. But when I try to stream from those same configured radio stations via your App, I cannot get it to work. Just continuously says "buffering" and never plays. I'm sure it has something to do with the format I use - so what format are you expecting the radion stations to be expressed as, from the server-side? That's the 9 million dollar question.
Thanks again Rich, much appreciated, you're doing great things with this app.

Hi!
AVSub works with the following format to radio station URLs
- pls streams
- m3u streams
- straightforward direct link
Both PLS & M3U streams URLs all point to something that contains the URL of the actual stream, whereas the direct link is, well, just that - a direct link.
Perhaps you're using a different format. Fire it over and I'll try and add support.
Thanks
Rich

interesting - well, I use about 8 different radio stations that have worked for years from the desktop browser interface. But none of my stations work with your app for some reason - let's start with this one, Radio Paradise....it is at
http://www.radioparadise.com/flash_player.phpI like my radio station access from PC/Macs to open a window, and i'm picky about the sizing of the window depending on the station's web format, so as an example again, I use this for Radio Paradise to ensure proper window sizing on desktop access....so my literal entry on the Subsonic server is:
javascript:void(window.open('http://www.radioparadise.com/flash_player.php','RADIO PARADISE','width=480,height=295,status=no,resizable=no,scrollbars=no'))
I use that URL in my Subsonic 5.2.1 server and similar setup for all my radio stations, and it works nice, just not from AVSub. It's entirely possible I'm just being stupid about this web radio thing though.

Hi,
that sort of URL is for the actual web player. Not sure how Subsonic works with that - I'd need to try it.
What you need to look for is the actual underlying stream URL. Radio Paradise is very friendly towards this and even has a page for it -
https://www.radioparadise.com/rp_2.php? ... file=linksTry the 128k MP3 URL - set this up in Subsonic with this URL and this will play in AVSub.
Cheers

Hi, I've been an iSub user for many years, but the one thing it's lacked has been support for Chromecast audio. I've wanted to cast my subsonic library from my iPhone to multiple Chromecast audio's all over the house. Can your app do this? If so, I'm buying...

Hi,
yes it can, but let me caveat that first. The latest version, 19.2, has a brand new Google cast implementation using their new API's, and there's a bug in the API that means that when the phone disconnects from the Cast, the cast stops! It's really annoying and I've logged a bug, so at the moment, AVSub will effectively control one Cast device at a time, because when you disconnect, the Cast stops (even though it shouldnt).
I think it's a bug in the receiver app running on the Cast device, which is a Google thing that hopefully they will fix soon - AVSub should then act correctly.
Cheers
