Download to cache is insanely slow

My cable modem is capable of supporting upload speeds of 5-6 megabits per second, but downloads into the cache - even at home, where the modem can pull down well in excess of 50 megabits per second, are insanely slow and stall constantly. I'm lucky to get 200K per-second according the AVSub (I'm assuming that's kilobytes?), and it often stalls out completely. I'm thinking this should be closer to 600Kb/sec. Is there some setting that will help?

One thought I had was to try to login to the local IP address on the port I've dedicated to Subsonic, but I had trouble getting AVSub to login to that address. It's the same address the Subsonic server redirects you to, though. The syntax is very specific, it has to be exactly http://123.45.6.789:1234/. Don't forget the final slash, and don't put anything after it.

However, even over the local network, it's glacially slow. My desktop computer doesn't have that problem - it's able to download a whole FLAC file in about a second.

Hi

this is strange. On my home network, it goes into the megabytes per second and is more than capable of doing so.

Are you downloading the original format or transcoding? In that instance it only goes as fast as your Subsonic hardware. For me it's quicker to download FLAC than to download a transcoded FLAC file.

Cheers

I am transcoding, but the machine it's running on is pretty fast at it. I guess that could be the bottleneck...

Still happening. It isn't just slow but actually stalls out completely. Currently I'm 37 tracks into a 322 list of tracks to download and it's completely hung. There's no way transcoding is taking this long - I've moved the server to an i7 machine with 16GB of RAM...I can transcode tracks in a couple of seconds.
