Volume Gets Louder When Shuffle Is Engaged

I've noticed this for quite some time, even on the latest version of AVSub on the iPhone. When you switch on shuffle mode, the volume always gets louder. Any idea why that is?

Hi,

there's nothing in there that changes the volume for shuffle mode. Are you using Replay Gain at all? It could be possible that it's related to that.

I sued shuffle all the time but have never noticed this, but then again I don't use replay-gain. Internally shuffle is just the same playlist in a different order, which happens before any playback is started.

Cheers

I do use replay gain, but shouldn't that always be enabled? Why would that change when shuffle was engaged?

Hi

its the only thing that dynamically changes the volume, so it's the only thing that could affect it.

If you set me up a user and PM me the details, I can have a try myself. I don't use replay-gain so can't test it locally without media.

Cheers

Whoops, just realized I forgot to follow-up on this - it's still happening, BTW.

Noticed maybe a related problem yesterday - the equalizer resets between tracks, it doesn't stay enabled. I have replay gain and crossfading activated - haven't tested yet to see if the problem persists with one or both disabled.

I never used the EQ before, but these new Sennheiser wireless buds I got are impossibly shrill without ~5dB of treble rolloff...
