I have been using Vortexbox to rip my CD collection and build my music server's database. The default filing system for Vortexbox is to create folders for each album named in the following format:
Artist_-_Album_Name (e.g. The_Beatles_-_Rubber_Soul)
I can't say that I know the reasons for doing it this way, but it has worked fine for all my applications to date. However, Subsonic seems to use the folder name as the artist name. So my left hand browser pane in the Subsonic interface looks like this:
J
Jane's_Addiction_-_Nothing's_Shocki...
Jane's_Addiction_-_Ritual_de_lo_hab...
Janis_Joplin_-_Janis_Joplin's_Great...
Jeff_Buckley_-_Grace
Jeff_Buckley_-_Live_at_Sin-é_(disc_...
Jeff_Buckley_-_Live_at_Sin-é_(disc_...
Jeff_Buckley_-_Mystery_White_Boy
Jellyfish_-_Bellybutton
etc.
Everything else seems fine, as far as song information, genre, etc.. I assume that Subsonic is set up with the assumed filing systems of Artist > Album > Song Files and this is why it assumes the folders are the artist name.
Is there any setting I am missing to change the browsing defaults or the way Subsonic views my music folders to achieve true artist browsing ala the screen shots on the Subsonic main site?
