reboot problems

Postby joeybolt » Tue Aug 03, 2010 6:56 am

Hi All,

I had Subsonic set up nicely on XP ,then a windows crash forced me to set this up on windows 7.

Don't know if this is a Windows 7 or IE 8, or Subsonic problem (4.0.1)

but I can't reboot subsonic from the control panel

only reboots from a complete restart of system

do I have some setting incorrect?

also have found people trying to get to site through IE, comes back as site cannot connect, or can't find.

any info would be helpful
thanks

reboot problems 2

Postby joeybolt » Thu Aug 05, 2010 4:21 am

Hi All

In addition to this last post
when I reboot the computer the control panel memory used reads
about 10 or 11 MB
until I sign on then it jumps to 94 or 95 MB and I haven't done anything except sign on

I'm at a loss here...anything?

Since you're using Windows 7, I'd bet something's not running in Administrative mode, or something. I have a ton of privilege issues with various programs, even some games that I have to run as an Administrator or they don't work properly... stupid Microsoft.

As for your memory question, don't worry about it unless it's a problem. You don't watch your dishwasher and say "hey, you missed a spot." If it's working then don't worry about it. 90 megs isn't a lot of memory.

Also, logging on to Subsonic is more intensive than you might think. It has to load your music database into memory to display it to you. If you go to that Home page, it has to generate album thumbnails for you to see your random albums on that page. Subsonic uses bandwidth between the client and server almost the entire time the web interface is up. So much of Subsonic is dynamic and refreshing often that it's bound to use some resources. 90 megs of memory doesn't sound out of line to me. Even though you're not playing music.

Cheers,
Kirk

I am running Windows 7 on a computer. But it's not my Subsonic server.

If you need further assistance, I can install Subsonic on my PC and try to help you pinpoint your issues.

Cheers,
Kirk

I did a quick install of Subsonic on my Windows 7 computer the other day to make a tutorial for the forums.. I didn't encounter any issue restarting the Subsonic service.

I didn't have to do anything specific after I installed Subsonic. The tray icon just seemed to work fine. I'm not sure what your issue is at the moment... if I find anything out I will let you know.

Cheers,
Kirk
