User craeting their own account instead of an admin login

Postby manoruz » Fri Oct 15, 2010 3:10 pm

Hi everyone.

I need help. I wanna setup Subsonic streaming for a new rec. centre in my neighbourhood, (lan) jus so the young peeps can hang out and listen to music. My problem is this, I want to create a link right, that if a user clicks, they are taken straight to the subsonic login page. Now instead of having someone with an admin account login to create accounts for all the different users, would it be possible to have the users at the login page creating their own logins (like how one would sign up for a facebook account or something, but not as complicated obviously) (with limited rights of course)

Is this at all possible? Any help would be appreciated thanx...

Why bother? Just set up a generic login that everyone can use and limit the account to just listening to the music. What difference does it make who it is that logs on?

I have a Visitor account on my server that I send to family and friend so they can use without the need for me to create seperate accounts for everybody.

Much easier.

Yep, agreed :) I have a guest account on mine. I also limit it to now download, no upload, only listening. If you have a link for others to make the account on their own, you could have people passing that link out to everyone and anyone, pretty soon your system will have users you never wanted in the first place, killing your bandwidth for users that you did intend it for.
