UTF-8, Extended, Non-ASCII Characters and album art on Linux

So I've never had any of my questions answered in the is forum but I'm desperate so I thought I would give it a try after 3 days of trying different things I was able to get folder with extended characters to appear in Subsonic. Most notable I was missing all Japanese characters. Now the album art will not display. See the attached image.

Weird thing is that the ar seems to work fine on the Android app.

I am running Ubuntu 10.10

So everyone using Ubuntu is missing out any files (music) that is using extended Characters? How can that be? ....anyone?

You need to make sure that the LANG variable is set for the user you run Subsonic is. I paste info on how I did this in the following thread:
