No login with WAP interface

Postby tberman333 » Tue Nov 06, 2007 4:21 pm

After upgrading to the newest subsonic, when I go to http://myhost.com/subsonic/wap on my mobile phone, it does not ask me for a login or password (I have cleared all cookies on my web browser just to be sure it was not saved). It still lets me into the server (but it is missing this important security part!). Also, since there is no log in and password, I am unable to set a lower bitrate for the mobile user (since it does not know what use I am logged in as).

Also, when I go to stream on my phone (using http://myhost.com/subsonic/stream?player=8&suffix=.mp3) there is also no prompt for user/password (I don't remember how this worked with the previous version, but I know it is different now). When I sign in on my PC and look at my players, player 8 (that I use on my mobile phone) looks like this:

Player 8 [null@75.1975.138.123]

So, there is no user associated with that player.

Another problem this seems to cause is that when my IP address changes on my phone, it creates a new player (so I can't use the same one to stream each time). I would guess this is because there is no user ID associated with the player so it does not use the same one for a different IP.

I used to use the streaming on my mobile phone a lot... if you need any more information from me, or want me to help test solutions to these problems in anyway, please let me know!

Thanks,

Todd

Well... I got the streaming working again. I named one of the playlists 'Mobile' and now when I connect, I connect to http://myhost.com/subsonic/stream?playe ... uffix=.mp3

and that seems to be working (even after a phone reboot so the IP address changed).

Also, I set the Max bandwith on that player to 128 so it will stream well on my phone.

There is still an issue with the fact that there is no login to the WAP interface, so it is not really secure. If there is a way I can just update that in my file, please let me know.

BTW - Another issue that was causing me problems was that I had to be sure my browser was open when I played the stream in my media player. This could be because of my phone setup, but in case anyone else is trying to do this, I just wanted to point it out...

My setup is a Verizon Motorola Q running Opera Mini as the browser and TCPMP as the media player.
