My subsonic.org subdomain isn't updating

Postby brianjcohen » Thu Jan 06, 2011 2:45 pm

I have a subsonic.org subdomain registered via the Network section of Settings. I checked today with an `nslookup' and it seems that the IP hasn't been updated in quite some time (I have a dynamic IP). My build is a little old (4.1), I'm upgrading it now, but I didn't see anything in the changelog about this functionality so I'm wondering if maybe something is wrong with the dynamic dns registration service.

It definitely is not working for me. I've even upgraded subsonic in the meantime, which required a restart. This is on an Ubuntu 10.10 system.

have you tried rebooting your router? did you run the nslookup from inside or outside your network? If you are running it internally try running a ipconfig /flushdns to see if the name is cached somewhere.

@kermit22 -- this is not a internal-vs-external perspective issue... I've checked from multiple external hosts and the record is just not up to date.

I'm still hitting the log in just fine...so it appears to be updating properly.

So, we've established that it currently works for alphawave7 but not for me...

Does your network allow outbound traffic from your Subsonic server to the internet on Port 80? Are you running a firewall on your server that could be blocking the registration information?

I'm taking a guess that Sindre is using post to a web form for registration behind the scenes, but without throwing a packet sniffer on my network (hard to do remotely) I can't be sure.

Sorry,

Glenn
