Some artists names are in Asian characters

Postby eqwalker » Wed Jan 19, 2011 2:53 pm

I have noticed on some of my albums (all mp3's) that the artists names in the play list is displayed in Asian characters. I have looked at the properties and the meta data on these and all is correct on the actual files. Why do some of the artist names (listed to the right of the song titles) show up in Asian characters? I am on the latest version and this issue is on the web browser player as well as the Android app. and the Apple app. (z-subsonic). My default language is set to English (United States). Thanks for any help.

I had this same problem with all of my albums by the John Butler Trio. Every other music player showed the name correctly except subsonic. The only way I was able to get them to show correctly was by editing the tags directly in subsonic. It was only a few albums and subsonic was able to suggest the correct names so in my case it ended up not being a big deal. I am curious though as to where the asian characters came from.

I have did what you have suggested and have taken care of it. It appeared to only affect the titles that have unusual characters in them. For instance, the band Expose had a mark above the last 'e'. The group "Tony, Toni, Tone" had a mark above the last "e" in the last Tone. I guess it couldn't handle the strange characters.
