Genre shows incorrect on mp3's from MediaMonkey.

Postby kdid » Wed Nov 28, 2007 9:47 am

When I convert FLAC files to MP3's and then copy the mp3's to my mp3 folder in subsonic, I get the Genre information listed incorrectly. I there see entries like:
Code: Select all
1 Long Road Out Of Eden       Long Road Out Of Eden (Disc 2)  (17)Rock    2007    mp3    12,8 MB    10:14    174 Kbps vbr
2 I Dreamed There Was No War  Long Road Out Of Eden (Disc 2)  (17)Rock    2007    mp3    2,1 MB    1:37    183 Kbps vbr
And so on...

Do you notice the (17)Rock genre?

The number 17 is the same that Rock have in the "Chane tags" view in subsonic. This is when counting from zero.

So to me it looks like that subsonic somehow add the (17) part in the genre. If the genre for the musik added is something else than Rock. Then the number in parantecis do match that in the index too.

I do not know if this a problem only when getting files from MediaMonkey or not. MediaMonkey is set to use "ID3v1 and v2 tags" and to encode using ASCII.

Do you want me to send you a sample file for debugging?

Hi,

Thanks for pointing this out. I'll add code to trim the "(17)" part.

Hey Sindre, while you are messing with that area, the genre tags aren't sorted by name, could you make that list sort on name by alpha? Just makes it easier to navigate.

Also, I think I mentioned it elsewhere, but the genre tag is limited to that list, you cant type into the field what you want, can you make it so we can type anything we want OR select from the list? In the mean time, can I edit a file to add a few tags that I use to it?
