[Solved (kinda)]Time Out on Subsonic 4.4 Beta for streami...

Original topic Title - Time Out on Subsonic 4.4 Beta for streaming only

Hi All, so I have a problem. I am able to access the web page for my subsonic server externally, however I am unable to stream media using an external player (i.e. winamp) it just times out. I changed my port for subsonic to 1031, and opened it up on my router (D-Link DIR-655) but I am still unable to stream music. The one in the browser streams fine, but of course we all have our preferences.

Any help would be appreciated.

As a side note, I also noticed that I cannot connect to my server using my android phone

If your getting a stream to the desktop browser, it should be able to stream to an external player. Do you have a default player defined on your desktop?

Yes my external media player (winamp) comes up fine, it is giving time out errors while connecting to the server

I'd suggest testing WMP to see if you get same results. Looks like it may be a firewall issue.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, so I tried it in Windows Media Player and it worked.... which sucks because I HATE wmp... i am sure now that it is a proxy issue (at the office). Unfortunately winamp does not support the use of the same proxy settings as IE which leaves me stuck. But at least I know there is nothing wrong with my server!

Thanks!
