Accessing Podcasts

Postby FreeMan » Thu Jan 17, 2008 5:03 am

I just heard about this player today, and I'm trying it out after using Slim Server for some time. Unfortunately Slim won't run on ports that are left open by my employer - I love the fact that this just uses port 80.

I'm trying to access some PodCasts to be able to play them, and I'm getting errors doing so. I'm quite new to PodCasts, and I do NOT have iTunes installed - is that necessary?

I'm trying to access the PodCasts listed here http://www.kcm.org/media/podcasting/index.php

When I click on the links, (just the audio links, not video) it complains that I don't have iTunes installed (hence my initial question). When I copy the link and paste it into the 'Subscribe to PodCast' box on the 'PodCast' page in Subsonic, it's added to the list of podcasts, the status indicates 'Downloading'. After I get bored watching this, I hit 'Refresh Page' and I see this:
Error org.jdom.input.JDOMParseException: Error on line 1: Content is not allowed in prolog.

What am I missing here?

TIA for your help,
FreeMan

Hi,

You must use the RSS links listed on that page, for instance:

http://kcm.org/rss/webcast-rss.xml

Hope this helps,

That fixed it!

Sindre-

Thanks so much, that fixed it! I was sure I'd tried that and it hadn't worked, but when I did it this morning, it worked fine.

Best part - this will stream to my office via port 80 and the network guys won't block it! (Yes, we're actually allowed to listen to streamed music, just not on your own choice of ports.)

Bye-bye to Slim Server!

Thanks again,
