Playing Vids on my Android Device

Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I'd appreciate any guidance. I can stream music to my device with no probs. The videos however never seem to play. When selecting an .avi file from my server, my browser (dolphin) pops up and I have a blank white box with two drop down boxes below. One with a time, which never leaves 0:00, and the other with the Kbps options. Nothing else.
I've uninstalled SS, cleared cache multiple times and rebooted. I've confirmed the video mask still lists .avi as a choice. I'm using a Samsung Fascinate, stock 2.1 ROM. Any help would be appreciated.

Sidenote: I love subsonic. I've recommended it to anyone who'll listen.

Are you able to try with a different android browser? I have an HTC desire and the standard browser works OK with videos.
