Not all albums displaying & Album art question

Postby hogfan » Thu Jan 27, 2011 3:17 am

I have run across 2 issues in 4.3 running on Ubuntu 10.10 server. I've done some digging on this forum, but didn't find anything.

1.) When I click on an artist in the left column and all albums are displayed in the right pain, they all show up. However, if I go into an album and then click on the Artist name in right pane to go "back up a level" to show all albums, when it reloads the albums by the artist they are all are not displayed. Clicking on the artist again in the left pain re-loads it and all albums are displayed. Is there a fix for this?

2.) I know that Subsonic uses the Music folder stucture and not tags for navigation, but does read the ID3 tags for other information. I have a lot of albums that don't display album art. Not all of my albums have the album cover in the root folder, but all of them have Album art in the tags. Based on this, I assume Subsonic get it's album art from the album's root folder and not the ID3 tag. Is there a way to have Subsonic get the album art from the tags? If not does anybody know of a good tool to dump album art from ID3 tags to say (ie. cover.jpg) in each of my album folders.

I am really enjoying Subsonic so far, but am only disappointed in it's lack of of ID3 tag use. It seems this is by design. The user should be give the option to organize music by folder structure OR by Tag info.......and reading album art from the ID3 tags should definitely be implemented.

#1 for me too.

I think it happens if you have more than one folders in your settings and each folders or some of them have similar artists, but I may be wrong.

Let say you have a few albums by artist "TheArtist" and some are in your "V0" folder, some in your "320" folder and some in your "192" folder..

You click on TheArtist on the left and all albums in V0, 320, and 192 folders appear on the right. Then on the right you click on TheAlbum1 wich is in your "320" folder, if you click on TheArtist on the right it will only give you albums by TheArtist in your "320" rather than 320, V0 and 192 like when you click on TheArtist on the left. I may be wrong but, yeah. annoying, yes. It does that to me too.

Hey Hogfan,
I tried to duplicate your problem, my folder structure is setup like A\Artist\Album\Songs i.e. A\A Tribe Called Quest\The Low End Theory\*.mp3's.
So if I duplicate what you are doing I click on the "A" left column then click on "A Tribe Called Quest" (middle of the page) it take me to a page with the Albums listed, now I click on "The Low End Theory" and I see all the songs. Now when I click on "A" again (left column) the middle page populates with the beginning of my Artists just like the first time. I'm not seeing a bug on my end. If I missed a step let me know.

60% of my collection has album art in the form of folder.jpg and 100% in ID3 tags. I took a look at several of my albums and subsonic is pulling the album art from my ID3 tags. Your installation is sounding a little buggy. Might want to consider uninstalling and reinstalling only takes a second.

I had this problem also. The issue was with an artist I had two of the same album listed. One was a "deluxe" version with an extra cd/songs, etc. However, they both listed the same name. Deleting the original, since it's songs were duplicates, resolved the issue for me.

Hope this helps.
