Keeping different libraries in sync

Postby rafadc » Thu May 05, 2011 1:19 pm

What's the best way to keep defferent subsonic libraries in sync?

Keeping just mp3 files is enough?

Is it possible to keep things like rating and number of plays?

Thanks a lot.

I use Synctoy for Windows to sync my libraries.

And the covers for example are synchronized?

Since I'd be synchronizing one windows and one linu that whould mean that a simple rsync should be enough.

I have two servers. I use synctoy to duplicate the contents of each to the other to protect against a hard drive crash. My WHS backs up my workstations, then I use synctoy to back uo the data shares to the other server. It creates a full coppy of each folder that I designate , compares the contents everytime it's run and updates the backup with any new content. It's an incremental backup so it doesn't take very long. I've linked SS to both libraries from time to time and everything is in both. You can do the same thing with seperate drives on the same system to get the same result. Just take a bit of time to be sure you understand all the option availavle for the Sync or you can lose data. My son selected to match the data and deleted a directory on his netbook thinking that he had a backup on the server, but he ran a sync and the way he had it setup when synctoy saw the missing data on the netbook it deleted the backup. That was due to the fact that he didn't understand the options he had chosen for the folder pairing. It's very versatile and you can set the pairing up in several different ways.
