Still no solution: (droid) "Didn't understand the reply

Hey Sindre, I hope you see this.

When trying to access the Playlists section of my server (http://staires.subsonic.org) through the Android client I receive the following message:

Error: Didn't understand the reply. Please check the server address.

The list of playlists will not load.

I've put the address in both as http://staires.subsonic.org and as the full IP such as http://xx.xx.xx.xx:4040 and neither have made Playlists accessible.

Multiple searches on this forum bring up several people who have had the same issue and as far as I can tell only one person had it solved for them (they had a malformed URL in the server field).

This is a pretty frustrating error and I haven't seen Sindre himself weigh in on it. Perhaps a more verbose error would help me isolate it myself. Playlists are accessible via the web just fine, and the folder they're in (/Users/amiantos/music/playlists) isn't complicated in the least.
