Limit Bandwidth for WAP player

Postby tberman333 » Thu Jun 05, 2008 9:56 pm

Hi there. I just installed the newest release and it looks great! I am just trying to do one thing (that I have tried ot do for a while and have never had much luck). I want to limit the bandwidth for the player on my mobile phone (so I don't ever get buffering). There seems to be a few ways to do this, but I can't seem to figure out how to make them work.

The most logical way (I would think) is to setup a special WAP user and limit that users bandwidth. The problem is, there is no login with the WAP interface and it seems to just log in with my main user.

Another option would be the settings on the WAP interface and select the player (and limit the bandwidth for that player). The problem is, when I go into settings on my phone and "Select Player", the only option is "All". I would have thought there would have been an option to select the player number and then the phone would always use that player.

Am I missing something here? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I have looked into this a little more... and there are a couple of things that are strange (may not be Subsonic's fault, but I don't know how to fix).

1. If I use a WAP browser on my PC and go to my wap site, it asks me for a user name and password. I have deleted all saved passwords on my phone and it still just lets me right in... not sure why my phone doesn't ask for a password.

2. I was using Opera Mini as a web browser before, when I tried Pocket IE, and went into settings, it let me choose my player. There may be something in Opera that is not allowing me to see the players. I can use IE to get to Subsonic on my phone for now, but it is strange that Opera does not allow the setting changes.... By the way, both Opera and IE d not ask for a user name or password. It must be saved on my phone somewhere but I deleted from memory and also from the registry, so I am stumped.
