Droid X: App works fine but direct URL does not

Postby innerspaceboy » Wed Jun 08, 2011 3:45 am

Problem Description: Hello all, hope you can help. I installed Subsonic a week ago and I've been able to access my music library from Firefox on my PC and, more importantly from my new Droid X using the Subsonic Android app. However, while I can view my library directly from my mobile browser, no player appears below the queued tracks and nothing happens when I press the play/play all buttons.

Troubleshooting Steps: I've verified that I am accessing the correct URL - http://[username].subsonic.org. I've checked browser settings to ensure that JavaScript and plug-ins are enabled and cookies are accepted.

Playback Application and version: I am using the standard browser included with the Droid X, Android v2.2.1, system v2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US.

Subsonic Version: 4.4 (build 2172) – February 6, 2011

Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_24, Windows 7 (50.5 MB / 96.7 MB)

Hardware Platform: Installed and active in Windows 7, I can install it on my Ubuntu partition if you believe it will help.

Java Memory Limit: 100

Problem Filename: Playback of any files, FLAC, MP3, etc. NOTE: All files play beautifully through the Subsonic Android app, itself.

Output from ffmpeg -i: ffmpeg is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Last ten log file lines: Multiple lines reading: INFO NetworkService Successfully forwarding port 80.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Although I don't know why you would want to use the browser, rather than the app, the standard browser and Opera mini won't render the player. Try Skyfire if you want to use the browser and be sure to install the latest flash player.

Mobile web issue resolved!

Postby innerspaceboy » Sat Jun 18, 2011 3:09 am

I installed Skyfire and downloaded the latest version of Flash. For the first five minutes the page appeared exactly it did in the standard browser.

Then I scrolled down through a few thousand artists and found the player object about 5/8th of the way down! One click and it started right up.

THANK you. I just wanted to see how much more cumbersome the Web interface would be if I didn't end up getting the full version. (Needless to say I am sold. The donation will be well worth it for this wonderful app.)

I've just posted a praise-filled review of Subsonic on gdgt. Thanks again!

Sounds like you have a pretty sizeablr collection. If SS appears to hang for no apparent reason, you may have to increase the memory allocation. The default is 100mb, I run mine at 256.

You'll like the Android app. Tt works much better than the browser. Feel free to test it on my site below as well.
