Also, when using richard.subsonic.org in subsonic make sure you have the port number on that one as well, so it should be http://richard.subsonic.org:85/

Ha!!

On the subsonic running on my browser...network settings...the top is the port forwarding section and the bottom is the address section.

My router does have dynamic dyns settings. I tried to get an address the other day and set it up but could not get it to work.

actually since you set up the port forwarding manually, just the bottom should be checked. I am afraid that I can't help you set up a DynDNS account since I have only done it once and I don't remember how I did it. You should be able to look online for a good guide though. There is one here that I used: http://lifehacker.com/software/web-publ ... 124804.php
but I'm not sure how up to date it is anymore.

1. Try just unchecking that top part and seeing if entering http://richard.subsonic.org:85/ in to the android client works.
2. If it doesn't try following the guide I gave you.
3. If that doesn't work, search online for a better guide.

I do believe you are done sir. Good job. Your bill comes to a total of $10000000000000000@!#$!@#$!%%!3492598723947597.

That or you can just keep an eye out on the forums for someone else that needs help, even if the only way you can help them is linking to this thread.

Also, you should probably uncheck the bottom part of the network settings.

You are a fine man and something good will happen to you soon. I surely will do all I can to pass it on. I love this program, no doubt. I am a total music freak and an audiphile so having access to my library on te go is pretty amazing. I will say that it is not for the folks with limited computer/networking skills. Damn.

Thanks again.

On the music quality issue....I think there is a huge difference between 192 and flac or cd. I will try 320 and see what happens but I just assumed that unlimited would be the highest. Guess I am wrong on that too!

Again...big thanks man.

I can no longer connect:(

Postby 1richardw » Mon Jul 11, 2011 3:26 pm

Well...things were working swell for months but for some reason, unknown to me, I can no longer connect my DroidX to my server. I checked my router and the same Dynamic Dyns service is there and enabled...I have no idea what happened and not sure where to start to correct it.

I have considered uninstalling both the ap and program and starting over but thought I would try posting this plea first....

First check the phone. Attempt to connect it to the Demo server.

The test server works

Postby 1richardw » Mon Jul 11, 2011 5:04 pm

Both wireless and via the phone network. Another strange thing is the tray icon will not open on my computer. I get an error message that says..

The JVM could not be started. The maximum heap size (- Xmx) might be too large or antivirus or firewall tool could block the execution.

I checked Windows firewall and Windows security and it does not appear to be blocking. Those are the only programs I use besides Spybot Search and Destroy which should not be doing anything.

I found what may have caused the problem but not sure how to fix it. My setting in Windows was changed to get IP address automatically. I changed it back to static IP but still not working. I do not know if this messes up my dyndns address or not but am guessing the trouble is in there somewhere. Any idea I need to do?

Set the server host to a static ip in the adapter settings for the NIC. I use a high number to get out of the way of DHCP, such as 192.168.1.25X. Then check your port forwarding rules in the router to be sure the port for ss is sent to the internal ip of the host.

Use Canyouseeme.org to confirm that the port is open once you've made the changes.
