Solved[Windows Vista 4.5b2] Can't Stop Server

Postby woodbtreasures » Sun Aug 07, 2011 7:27 am

Hey all I have run across a very strange problem all of the sudden.

When attempting to stop the server by clicking the headphone icon and selecting stop server in the quick launch control panel nothing happens.

I ran across this issue because I'm running my https on port 443 and per another post I read it was recommended not to as it may slow the stream down. My stream quality for movies sucks so I thought it was at least worth a try.

Anyways, so the only way that I can get subsonic to stop is to go to the start menu/programs/subsonic and right click to run as administrator on the stop server option. The other way is to go services and manually stop it there.

TIA for any help or advice.
-Jeremy

After I got it stopped I went back into the control panel in an attempt to change my port and I get a message stating Failed to write ...../subsonic-service.exe.vmoptions

So I tracked down that file and attempted to manually change the information with notepad++ but was unable to save the changes because it says that it's being used by something else and the system will not let it save.

On top of everything else I am completely unable to change the skin while I am on the server...on the computer that it is running on. I have no idea whats going on. The only thing that I had done was update the flash player to 5.7, and I even undid that to see if somehow that could have caused the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas here. I have about 20 users on my site and don't want to have to reinstall or redo any of my encodings if I can avoid it. This problem has persisted through 3 restarts and one total reboot.

Ok so this appears to be some stupid permissions thing in Vista.

I right clicked and ran notepad++ as administrator and was able to manually change the file and save it.

So does anyone have any idea how to fix that?
