Subsonic Android Player & GPS Issues

I have my android device (HTC Evo) hooked up to my OEM car stereo so I can hear my music through my car speakers. I noticed that when I am using GPS while listening to music from the Subsonic Android Player, I can barely hear the GPS turn-by-turn audio instructions. I tested this function using the standard android built-in music player and GPS works fine. The music mutes, the GPS turn-by-turn instruction are heard loud and clear, then the music automatically starts playing again. I suspect that there is something going on with the subsonic player that is preventing the audio on GPS from being heard. Is anyone else having this issue and if so, does anyone know how to fix this?
