Tomcat Subsonic Can't View Music On Ubuntu Linux

Postby guitarxperience » Wed Oct 05, 2011 3:25 pm

Do I need to change security permissions if my music folder is located at /home/user/Music? I added it to the settings page but no music is showing up in my subsonic. I am using the war distribution in tomcat6 on ubuntu (10.10) linux. Thank you.

You just need to make sure that the folder is readable. You should move that off your home drive onto either a mounted drive or on the root filesystem.
Couple of reasons, one being when you log out, if you chose to encrypt your home directory, it becomes unavailable. Second, it is easier to maintain, IMO.

If you want to leave it there, just ensure you are not encrypting your home directory and ensure the subsonic user has permissions to read from it. Execute permissions wouldn't hurt either.
