Error when going to http://localhost:4040

Error when going to http://localhost:4040

When I visit http://localhost:4040 in my browser (Chrome, Safari, etc) I get message such as "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to localhost:4040". I've installed the Subsonic package in my applications folder. I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.8. Any suggestions as to how I should proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked that SS is running? http://www.subsonic.org/pages/installation.jsp#mac
You are accessing SS from the pc that SS is installed on? otherwise you will need to use [IP address of server]:4040
You may also need to allow Subsonic through the firewall. (How I have no idea as I am a Windoze user)
