Subsonic at a party?

Postby NastyBlue » Mon Oct 10, 2011 10:01 am

Hi,

Apologies if this is all a little obvious, but this is my first Subsonic instal and I've hit one or two snags... I'd like to run Subsonic at a party, so anyone there can add songs to the playlist and they'll play out the local speakers in random order. What I'd like is...

1) No need to log in just to queue music
2) Only an admin can delete from the queue (I assume the admin will have to use a specific URL to get prompted to login?)
3) All music plays out the local speakers on the Subsonic box

What I've got so far is...

Subsonic installed and working great for an Admin user, music plays from speakers, etc. I've created a guest user, but they still need to log in as guest to get it working. I guess I could tell people to log in as guest/guest or edit the log in page to mention that, but is there a better way to auto log people in as guest?

My guest user seems unable to add music to the Jukebox queue. He just seems to get a checkbox, but that's it, beside each track. He's been granted "User is allowed to play files in jukebox mode". If I grant "User is allowed to play files" then the user is able to stream to his phone/laptop but nothing comes from the local speakers, what have I missed?

How do I force a playlist to be permanently shuffled? So new music added to it will play at a random time, not last?

Again, apologies if this is obvious. It seems like it should be a common setup/request but Googling for it just shows a lot of people asking for the features and it being added but nothing about using them: http://www.google.co.uk/search?client=o ... mode+guide

Thanks for any advice!

Welcome

Some of the things cannot be done (at this time  )
However yes/no answers to those questions below are:
1) No need to log in just to queue music
2) Only an admin can delete from the queue (I assume the admin will have to use a specific URL to get prompted to login?)
3) All music plays out the local speakers on the Subsonic box

1) No
2) Yes (Just login with admin account)
3) Yes
Dont forget to set up a jukebox player for the guest account and if you enable party mode guests will be able to add tracks only.

You cannot enable constant shuffle, all new tracks are added to the playlist end queue, and that would be difficult to do unless played tracks are deleted from playlist.
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

Many thanks, I'll double check my player settings when I get in this evening!
